I know sometimes being in an ADC without much equipment can be challenging, and simulating ADLs can also be difficult.
I thought we could share some of our creative substitutions for ADL tasks. I have two that I often use:
1) Theraband as pants: I tie my theraband so it makes a large circle to simulate the waist band of pants. Then I have the patients step into it and pull them up.
2) Stepping over stacked cones to simulate tub transfers. (Often more helpful if you have a grab bar/railing as well)
Any other interesting suggestions?
Those are great ideas Portia. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOne I use for dyn stand balance is tying a water bottle to a gait belt for clients to kick in place or moving.
For UB dressing with difficulty reaching I'll clip clothes pins in a sequence for pts to reach for to simulate donn/doff a shirt.
